Wolf Designs watch winders are a product of a family business that started in 1834. With a company that put emphasis on jewelry cases and leather products, the family emigrated from Germany to Sweden in 1905, and later to London in 1963. With the introduction of the automatic winding wristwatch came the need for a watch rotator to keep the timepiece in sync even when it was not subjected to the natural movement of the arm or wrist.

The invention by Wolf Designs of the watch winder was an accessory that quickly had a place of prominence in the market. A variety of modules eventually were marketed to accommodate one or two watches. Some modules can be connected to build a multiple rotator system. Rotators can be powered by either AC or battery power. Once the watch is secure on the cuff, the correct time and directional setting is selected. The options for winding include clockwise, counter-clockwise, or in both directions.
